Each year Riddick's Folly presents Hidden Treasures, a unique opportunity for people to learn the true value of antiques or other items they have. More than a dozen experts in various fields lend their expertise for this fun and informative program of appraisals. Categories include Books and Publications, Civil War Artifacts and Firearms, Clocks, Coins and Currency, Dolls, Furniture, Glass, Jewelry, Linens, Paintings and Prints, Primitives and Folk Art, Porcelain and Glass, Porcelain, Silver, Sports Memorabilia, and Toys and Games.

Celebrate Veteran's Day and all the hard working men and women who have served this country with heart and soul.

Vendors will sell insignia, books, uniforms, accoutrements and more. The museum's gift shop will offer special discounts on selected items.

Colonial Williamsburg celebrates the anniversary of the Battle of Yorktown with special programs that recall September 26, 27, and 28, 1781 - the last three days of the period when General Washington and Le Compte de Rochambeau, commander of French forces, were headquartered in Williamsburg, prior to the siege at Yorktown. Experience the tension and heightened emotions that the people of Williamsburg faced in the days before the pivotal battle of the Revolutionary War.

Colonial Williamsburg heralds the Christmas season with candles, fireworks and music during Grand Illumination. Colonial Williamsburg's Fifes and Drums provide 18th-century music as costumed performers present holiday entertainment found in Williamsburg two centuries ago. The Fifes and Drums signal the beginning of the Grand Illumination, candles are lit in public buildings, shops and homes, and fireworks are launched. After the fireworks, entertainment resumes on the outdoor stages.

The Olde Towne Lantern Tour, led by re-enactor Al Joynes, departs from the lobby of the Holiday Inn - Olde Towne, 8 Crawford Parkway. On these tours, an informative and knowledgeable guide sheds light on Portsmouth's history, legends, lore, and its unique architectural styles. For additional information, the public may call the Portsmouth Visitor Information Center at (757) 393-5111.

Evening walking tours will relate the details of Bacon's Rebellion as they occurred at Jamestown, including a symbolic burning of the town site. Living history programs during the weekend will highlight the actions of key events of the rebellion. The event is jointly sponsored by the National Park Service and APVA Preservation Virginia.

In observance of American Indian Month, special programs focusing on the contributions of Virginia Indians to Virginia history and culture will be presented. The event is jointly sponsored by the National Park Service and APVA Preservation Virginia.
