This group of traditional musicians is directed by Bamba Dembele, uses the country's traditional sounds and rhythms. The Song and Dance Ensemble of West Africa is powerful. They use instruments such as: the Kora, N'Goni, the Balaphon, Djembe, Doundouns, and flute. This orchestra uses all the musical styles of Mali: peul, malinke, sénoufo, bambara, and they have gone overseas to open up new possibilities for themselves.

I just saw Capitol Steps at the Sandler Center - it was great! The show was very funny; I couldn't stop laughing - my side hurt! DO NOT MISS THEM!

This was a unique David Byrne experience that included great music, energy, quirkiness and amazing dancers who, by interacting with the band, propelled this from what at first reminded me a performance art installation into a superbly choreographed theatrical concert. A real treat. Collapse
