His playing weaves together melody, counter-melody, bass, harmony and rhythm to create a unique canvas of sound of striking rarity in a solo guitar performance. Using a broad palette of techniques, de Grassi's rich performance takes the listener to unexpected heights. Over the last three decades as a soloist and collaborator, de Grassi has explored a variety of musical influences. His repertoire includes American and English folk music as well as jazz and folk from around the world. His latest release is Now and Then: Folk Songs for the 21st Century is a solo guitar recording featuring contemporary arrangements of 11 American standards ranging from 'Saint James Infirmary' to 'Oh Susanna' and 'Swing Low, Sweet Chariot'. The unique tunings and lush sound of Alex de Grassi's guitar is a sweet summertime treat for music lovers!
