Ancient volcanic action has made Virginia's Piedmont region famous for its mineral collecting sites. Participants will travel to a pegmatite vein where they will be able to find such beautiful minerals as amazonite, garnet, galena, topaz and beryl. Learn the proper and safe techniques of mineral collecting, how minerals form and how to identify them. This is a great trip for those who are collectors at heart. Helpful Information: This is a Level 2 Activity. The Minimum ages for participants are 7 years with an adult and 14 years without an adult.
