One of the greatest challenges non-profit agencies face is finding grants to support important community services. Help is at hand in the form of the five-day Grantsmanship Training Program to be held September 8 - 12 at the James City County Library, 7770 Croaker Road.

The five day, comprehensive, hands-on workshop covers all aspects of researching grants, writing grant proposals and negotiating with funding sources. It is designed to benefit both novice and advanced grantseekers -- anyone with grantsmanship responsibilities or those in organizations who might have program ideas that require external funding. It has proven to be an excellent opportunity to learn the latest winning ways for getting government, foundation and private-source grants, as well as being a great brush-up for more experienced grant writers.

The Grantsmanship Center (TGCI), the world s oldest and largest grantsmanship trainer of nonprofit organizations will conduct the workshop.
Based in Los Angeles, TGCI was founded in 1972 and has trained more than 65,000 staff members of public and private human service agencies.
Williamsburg Regional Library (WRL) has hosted TGCI training since 1996.

Tuition for the five-day training program is $895, with discounts for those organizations sending more than one person to the training. Scholarships to offset the program tuition are available from the Williamsburg Community Health Foundation for Williamsburg-area non-profit agencies. The Grantsmanship Center itself also offers scholarships to organizations with annual budgets under $300,000.

Registration in this TGCI workshop is limited to 25 in order to maximize personal attention. Registration and information on the scholarships is available from the Grantsmanship Center at (800) 421-9512 or at www.tgci.com. A brochure with more information about the program is available from the library's Program Services Director, Patrick Golden, at
    (757) 259-4071 or via e-mail at programs@wrl.org.
