June 24-27: Clay: Potters Wheel
Explore form by making work on the wheel and finishing with handles, lids and decorative attachments. Students will explore clay as never before—“dress for mess.” Beth Turbeville
July 8-11: Watercolor & Pastel
Get in-depth experience with drawing, painting and color in this fun-filled adventure. Along the way, we’ll look at the work of a few artists who mastered watercolor and pastel. Juli Schuszler
July 15-18: Painted Clay
Imagine transferring your favorite images (photo, art, ad, souvenir, etc.) to clay and then creating objects such as boxes, vases, cups, plates, or sculptures! Explore the world of image transfer and use of ceramic materials to immortalize your artistic visions in clay. Bring a favorite image no larger than 8 ½ x 11 inches to the first class. Diane Kroniess
July 22-25: Clay Homekinz
Make cute clay critters to use around the house, like a soap dish, toothbrush holder, trivet, desk organizer, planter, coin bank, flowerpot buddies, even a cup or mug. You can even make something for your own Kinz to use! Susan Yager
July 29-August 1: Going Green
Experience art by “Going Green” – focusing on using natural and recycled materials through a new connection between art and nature. Amanda Wallace
August 5-8: Art in Nature
Experience the beauty of nature firsthand. We’ll work in the studio from flowers and natural materials, and then experience the landscape directly by working out of doors adjacent to the arts center. Juli Schuszler
August 12-15: Family, Friends & Favorites in Clay
Create a relief wall-hanging and a 3D sculpture of people, pets, places and things from clay. We’ll focus on representation of subjects using shape and texture. Finished work will be fired without glaze. Susan Yager
August 19-22: Asian Adventures
Practice the arts of a variety of Asian cultures in several different mediums. You’ll learn about traditional Chinese and Japanese art forms, along with the arts of other exotic locales. Lee Gerry Wertheimer
August 26-29: 4 x 4
Explore a different medium each day—pastels, collage and monotypes, plus a surprise. This is a great introduction to find what you like best. Julie Williams & staff
