Select from an incredible array of native plants that will beautify and hold their own in a variety of garden spots, from ponds to dry rock gardens, shade spots to sunny sites. Once established, native plants require minimal care, requiring less water, fertilizer, pruning, and little to no pesticide. Striking in both form and color, native plants are also beneficial for wildlife. Many are nectar/host sources for butterflies and hummingbirds, others provide fruit, nuts or seeds for birds and mammals, as well as shelter and nesting spaces. To encourage and educate the community about the benefits of using native plants in landscapes, the museum holds plant sales in spring, summer and fall. All plants are high quality, nursery propagated native plant species and most are not offered in the commercial nursery trade. Plants available include: Soapwort Gentian, Milkweeds, Wild Ginger, Virginia Bluebells, Rue Anemone, Wild Columbine, Blue False Indigo, Winecups, Green & Gold, Shooting Star, Fern-leaf Bleeding Heart, Wild Geranium, Jacob's Ladder, Vernal Iris, Alumroot, Sundial Lupine, Wild Blue Phlox, Lyre-leaf Sage, Golden Ragwort, Atamasco Lily, Bluestar, Spiderwort, Celandine Poppy, Fire Pink, Golden Alexander, Bloodroot.
