    This exhibit features Cartes de Visite, a unique collection of Civil War photographs from the collection of Ambassador John William Middendorf II. These small, commercially produced cards, each with a mounted photograph, were the 19th century equivalent of today's baseball cards, and allowed people to see and own images of celebrated persons.
