The 26th Annual Hampton Bay Days presents an afternoon with Bruce Hornsby and Ricky Skaggs! Hornsby, a twelve-time Grammy nominee and three-time Grammy winner, has produced ten albums, and sold over 11 million copies worldwide. Music lovers will enjoy an eclectic mix of hits played by Hornsby and the Noisemakers including, 'The Way It Is', the most played song on American radio in 1987, 'The End of the Innocence', 'Jacob's Ladder' and 'Gonna Be Some Changes Made'. Also, known around the music industry as a collaborator, Hornsby has been sought after by a veritable 'who's who' in the music business. He's played on albums with notables Bob Dylan, Don Henley, the Grateful Dead, Bob Seger, Crosby Stills and Nash, Stevie Nicks, Willie Nelson, and more. In 2007, bluegrass veteran Ricky Skaggs and pianist Bruce Hornsby joined forces for a collaborative album released on March 20, 2007. Eleven-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Skaggs is affectionately known as one of bluegrass music’s most recognized ambassadors. Backed by Skaggs' ace band Kentucky Thunder, the Ricky Skaggs and Bruce Hornsby with Kentucky Thunder performance includes soulful songs drawn from deep roots in mountain music - adding piano, and Hornsby's inimitable songwriting to the core of the bluegrass lineup - mandolin, guitar, bass, fiddle and banjo. Surprisingly, two of the most familiar songs prove to be at once the most startlingly innovative: 'Mandolin Rain' is reinvented as an acoustic ballad and 'Super Freak' (yes, the Rick James song) jumps out as a tongue in cheek hillbilly rave-up. Other songs include: 'The Dreaded Spoon', 'Across the Rocky Mountain' and 'Gulf of Mexico Fishing Boat Blues'. When asked to comment on the collaboration, Skaggs raved, 'It's one of the most memorable projects I've ever done,' and Hornsby agreed: 'Ricky Skaggs is a deep musical soul, one of the great keepers of the traditional and mountain music flame.' Event Location: This event will take place in Downtown Hampton on the City Hall stage.
