Marking Time - Voyage to Vietnam includes a cache of Vietnam War soldier art of striking importance and poignancy. The project began in 1997 when military historian Art Beltrone found graffiti-inscribed berthing unit canvases from the former troop ship USNS General Nelson M. Walker, which at the time was part of the Ghost Fleet in Virginia's lower James River. As a response to Dawoud Bey's Class Pictures and portraits from the Chrysler collection, 11th-grade students at the Governor's School for the Arts will mount an exhibition of their original art. These sessions will also include a special afternoon conversation with artist Dawoud Bey on the opening weekend of his exhibition.

This exhibition explores the use of quilting to decorate bed coverings, clothing, and accessories of the 17th and 18th centuries. See detailed drawings of elaborate quilting patterns that often are obscured by the technique's subtlety. Stomachers and petticoats worn with costly gowns, men's elaborate waistcoats, and counterpanes on the finest beds are all going to be featured.

A new exhibition at Colonial Williamsburg's DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum explores the rich history of stoneware in Britain's American colonies and the new nation from the first English settlements through 1800. Pottery With a Past: Stoneware in Early America presents a wide array of drinking, dining and storage vessels in ceramic forms ranging from utilitarian jugs to exquisite decorative teapots, made in England, Germany and early America.

This exhibition showcases the life and work of Steve Harley (1863-1947) who traveled to the Pacific Northwest and was inspired by such places as Wallowa Lake, Wind River and Mount Hood. His paintings capture the natural beauty of the places in stunning color. Only five paintings survive, all of which are owned by the museum and will be shown in the exhibition along with sketches and photographs.
