Shviki and her family came to the United States in 2008. During this time she has created many beautiful and nostalgic views of her native Israel. The Book of Daniel: a new installation of work from the Baron and Ellin Gordon Self-taught collection The Book of Daniel: a new installation of work from the Baron and Ellin Gordon Self-taught collection Presented by Baron and Ellin Gordon Art Galleries at Baron and Ellin Gordon Art Galleries April 10-October 17, 2010 The Book of Daniel examines a major evangelical theme that underlies much of the religious content in self-taught art. Some evangelicals believe the Old Testament prophet Daniel foretells of the Apocalypse that will precede the Second Coming and subsequent Judgment. Central to this narrative is the need to be saved. These works included in this show exhibit the range of ways the theme can be imagined by self-taught artists. There will be an Opening Reception Saturday, April 10 at 7:00pm.
