 t Date Begin: 2009-06-26\nEvent Date End: 2009-07-30\n\nNorfolk's Bureau o
f Cultural Affairs presents 'Chromatic Synergy'\; an exhibition of artwork
by Clay McGlamory and John Alan Nyberg. There is an Opening Reception Fr
iday evening June 26\, 2009 from 5:00pm-7:00pm. In conjunction with the ex
hibition a print workshop will be presented by Clay McGlamory July 18\, 20
 09. \n\nThe pairing of works by Nyberg and McGlamory will prove to be an
energizing\, radiant visual feast. Both artists push abstract vision by pu
shing the envelope of their respective medium. Nyberg explores new paint t
echnology with mixed-media and acrylic paint peels to create colorful geom
etric abstractions. The vitality of his work is manifested by the randomne
ss of his process which ironically leads to the illusion of visual predict
ability. McGlamory builds large installations of back lit screen prints pr
inted with enamel inks on transparent acrylic sheets. His imagery comes fr
om personal photographs of popular destinations such as Times Square and M
cDonalds. McGlamory disaggregates the photographs into a kaleidoscopic ima
ge comprised of shattered fragments. The work glows with a formal sensibil
ity yet transcends the visual aesthetics of traditional print media. \n\n
